I'd like to know where this school was that Nagel went to where 5 people got killed in cold blood while he was there.

Yeah, so did I. Can remember at least 2 lads that got sliced, although as you say no stabbings iirc. If you went looking for agro you could find it (usually on the IoD), but in no way as random and indescriminate as it appears to be nowadays.
Thank fuck we moved out of the shithole when we did.

When I was at school a murder would be front page news in bold print !
The great train robbery was massive but today it might get a mention on an inside page !

That's how times have changed and like it or not most of the problems are down to Blair and his immigration policy.

Growing up in Poplar in the 70's, people were mostly glassed or slashed with a stanley knife/razor.

I know of people being cut by a mate just for a laugh. In fact someone I knew was cut by the same friend with a stanley knife twice.

The difference nowadays is people tend to stab. So there are a lot more deaths.

Re: This stabbing of kids outside their school gates
When I was at school there was quite a lot of serious violence over the years outside of school. All race related. Tit for tat white on Asian, Asian on white... and 99% of the time it was groups of violent scum attacking kids of other race who were on their own and were not personally part of any violence. Picking on people who you know aren't going to fight back. They were all cowards.

One Asian kid got brain damaged when set upon by a group of white kids - Asian kid was completely blameless.

A white kid got murdered when the same thing happened to him.

But this random stabbing because of someone 'disrespecting' you or whatever. That literally never happened at the time to anyone that I knew of.

This was late 80s, early 90s.

Worst was bottles over the head and that was 17/18 and up in shit holes like 5th Avenue in Ilford.

The knife thing is new and the kids doing it are ridiculously young.

Not really sure what the Old Bill are supposed to do except the controversial stop and search to stop it happening.

Otherwise it’s a cultural issue and fuck knows how you go about changing a whole culture.

Kids having kids, baby fathers, entitlement, greed, poverty, desperation, gangs, drug addiction or whatever.

Lost generation init!

Arm yourselves as it’s only going to get more feral.

once had a free for all in some club in leytonstone, a mate hit some bloke round the head with one of those old grolsch bottles. unsurprisingly it didn't break, but luckily the bloke got up 😂

Tell what has gone out of fashion... glassings... always a regular occurence back in the day... either that or a Pint Mug to the back of the head... kids need to up their game.

Makes me laugh people comparing to the past.

Yeah, there was shit that went on, but it is off the scale now. I was talking to one of the few decent coppers left a little while ago, he was telling me just how bad it is. If you want to pretend it was like that back in the day, fair enough, but you know deep down you're lying.

Wansteadman

I sometimes walk the gauntlet between Shadwell station and Limehouse in the rare occasion I go into the office.

Walked out of Shadwell station one Friday evening and a young lad was laying on the ground arm bleeding out after he had just been attacked.

Might be an initiation or some stupid shit round there.

Re: This stabbing of kids outside their school gates
In my last year of junior school a kid turned up with a sawn off shotgun in his sports bag..

It wasnt loaded (i dont think) and belonged to his dad.
He wasn't the sharpest tool in the box (or bag even) and had been dared to do it after bragging about his old mans exploits and arsenal of guns which had been met with some derision previously.
One of the teachers spotted it and took it in for safe keeping before calling the old bill and his parents.

The only one who came to any harm in this episode was the kid himself who got a right good hiding from his dad who obvioisly had some serious explaining to do.

The same kid also ended up in hospital a few months later after punching one of the small glass panels reinforced by wire in the corridor door
His fist got stuck in the wire after he took up the challenge to do it for £5..

Happy days but last i heard he'd gone of the rails somewhat.

Always remembered the incident in Leeds (I think) when the kid stabbed to death his teacher (Spanish woman).

I work in sarf West London in a college and we have a duty to safeguard kids and Adults, was involved in an incident outside the tube on my way home tonight that possibly saved a young lad of school age from being stabbed by other kids of school age, think some were even in uniform.
This is very real and pretty common, it's nothing like the old days when school kids would have a punch up and that would be it.

Reminds me, not one actually go stabbed so I didn't mention it.

Grade 10 gym class, a huge kid got kicked out in the middle of the year but we saw him a few weeks later out the front doors when we were preparing to head out for some game.

When he saw the teacher, he came running at the doors with a knife. He almost got one open but the teacher pulled it shut. He tried to stab through the wire mesh safety glass window in the door. The knife got stuck and he hurt his hand and ran away.

Never saw the teacher again. Sub for the rest of the year.

Re: This stabbing of kids outside their school gates
The thing most laden with violent potential at my school was also a bit weird.

An ex-pupil who had been sent to Borstal was rumoured to be paying a visit to settle a disagreement he had with the Head.

And he actually arrived, timing his appearence to coincide with the mid-morning break.

The Head locked himself in his office, the Borstal boy hammered on the door, but the Head wouldn't come out. Eventually, the Borstal boy fucked off.

What I have never quite got about the whole thing is why the Head didn't call the Police. And why the Borstal boy didn't try harder to smash the door down.

Re: This stabbing of kids outside their school gates
Nothing ever like this happened in Sussex, absolutely tragic, You wouldn't dare even slap someone with the headmaster we had. Ex-Borstal Master and everyone was terrified of him. Sadly, he wouldn't last five minutes in today's pampered world. Worst I had was having my short arse hung from a peg in the cloak room, with my feet dangling three feet off the ground! There was a fight lined up between two schools once. Rumours of knuckle dusters and bike chains but by all accounts, it was a bit of a pathetic standoff. I wasn't there, I was a good boy!
